By Jane Betteridge
Unexpected tears flowed at the Children of Promise conference on Tuesday morning as those in attendance listened to dramatic stories of children whose lives have been transformed through the Anderson-based international child sponsorship program.
Hope was the overarching theme as leaders from the countries of Rwanda, Ecuador, Honduras, the Philippines, and Russia shared personal accounts of working with sponsored children and their families.

By David Farlow
A grateful crowd recognized the military chaplains during the evening service on Monday. SOT conference focuses on global partnerships
By Richard Willowby
“Does unity have a cost?” asked conference attendee Nathan Wiebe. The conversation prompted by Wiebe’s question ended with a consensus suggesting that indeed achieving unity exacts a price—even sacrifice.
David Neidert, director of Anderson University School of Theology’s Center for Christian Leadership, hosted the conference, titled “Global Faith Partners: a Conversation about Unity." Those attending discussed John 17, a passage central to Church of God theological thinking for nearly a century and a quarter. Jesus’ prayer pleads for the unity of his followers and “those who will believe in me through their word” (v. 20).

Conference focuses on the value of ministry and mission trips
By Ed Hyatt
The conference on Eye on the World, Church of God Ministries mission and ministry team emphasis, began in a surprising fashion. Ruben Schwieger, co-presenter with Ed Hyatt, gave those attending a quiz. The quiz focused, as one might expect, on various aspects of mission and ministry trips. The thirty plus attendees were not intimidated; most have had extensive experience crossing the globe sharing Christ. Many of those in attendance have been on more than fifty mission and ministry trips.

Bridging the intergenerational gap in women’s ministry
By Courtney Porter
Often I have the privilege of answering the phones for the national offices of Women of the Church of God. One question that seems to be on the hearts of the women across the country is, How do we get younger women involved with Women of the Church of God? That is a great question, yet the answer is not as easy as we would like it to be.

Providing a forum for laughter and stories, hope and encouragement
By Josh Weiger
Preacher’s kids and missionary’s kids. The mere mention of those words often invokes stereotypes, with stigmas soon to follow. In a world where full-time ministry has proven time and time again to be difficult and draining on the family, the PK/MK Retreat brings together those most affected—the kids!
