Allison Named Coordinator of Communications and Publishing
Church of God Ministries

Joe AllisonAnderson, IN—Rev. Joseph D. Allison has been selected to manage the publishing outreach of Church of God Ministries Inc. Allison began his new duties as coordinator of Communications and Publishing on October 18.

"We are delighted to have Rev. Allison on our ministry team," said Dr. Ronald V. Duncan, general director of Church of God Ministries. "He brings more than thirty years of experience in Christian publishing to the task. He is a capable manager who has deep roots in the Church of God."

According to Duncan, Allison will supervise the Communications and Publishing team, which writes, edits, designs, prints, and mails promotional and ministry materials for Church of God Ministries; produces the annual Yearbook of the Church of God, ONEvoice! magazine, and Communion; produces books and curriculum, particularly teaching and study materials that are designed to serve the Church of God; writes news releases; and directs information to and communicates with the news media.

Allison frequently writes material for the BRIDGES curriculum and for the Pathways to God devotional magazine. He is also the author of six books. He began working as an editor at Warner Press in 1971 while a student at Anderson College (now University). He later became managing editor of Vital Christianity magazine and editor of Pathways to God. He helped to publish books by several Church of God authors, including Giants Along My Path by W. Dale Oldham and Receive the Holy Spirit by Arlo F. Newell.

Rev. Allison became an ordained Church of God minister in 1980 and has served the Church of God in key leadership roles. He was the World Service "Day Man" for Tennessee (1979--80), pastor of Park Forest Church of God in Fort Wayne, Indiana (1980--84), and interim pastor of Hillcrest Community Church in Cedar Springs, Michigan (1997--98). He was ratified twice as a trustee of Anderson University.

Allison's work in Christian publishing developed in tandem with his pastoral ministry. After leaving Warner Press in 1978, he served as a book editor for Thomas Nelson Publishers and Zondervan Publishing House. He eventually managed the editorial staff at Zondervan. For the past three years, he has been publishing manager at Evangel Publishing House in Nappanee, Indiana.

"We believe that Joe brings a unique set of skills to us," Duncan said. "We hope to spread the message of the Church of God more effectively with his help."
