Church of God Ministries (CGM) continues to maintain communication with Church of God leaders in Southern California to monitor the situation with the wildfires burning there.
David Winn, executive director of the Association of Southern California and Southern Nevada informed CGM that his staff had evaluated the area and determined that there was no apparent damage to Church of God congregations. But Winn also said that could change.
Bill Besalski, the finance manager for the Church of Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, told Rev. Obadiah Smith, Jr., coordinator of compassionate ministries for Church of God Ministries, that the church is fine and has been slated as an evacuation center. Besalski added, “The church is reaching out to help the nearby Baptist church, which was destroyed by the fires.”
“We are monitoring the situation and will continue to communicate with our leaders there,” said Rev. Dewayne Repass, Church of God Ministries. “As more detailed information is provided on the extent of the damages, we will be better positioned to determine how we can best provide assistance.”
“We ask everyone to please lift up in prayer those living in the affected area,” said Repass.
