What in the World Is Happening with CBH?
CBH: Christians Broadcasting Hope

Logo: CBH ViewPointWhat a great question to ask and an even more exciting one to answer! For over sixty years now, CBH, Christians Broadcasting Hope, has been taking a message of hope around the world in the name of Jesus Christ. Few periods of time in that history can match the forward progress that this vital, hope-filled ministry will see over the next twelve months. You can be a part of these historic days in many different ways. Interested in life-changing ministry around the world? Read on!

French CBH set to launch in Côte d’Ivoire—It was a conversation between Church of God missionary Larry Sellers and Dwight Dye, then executive director of CBH, that first launched the idea of a French-language CBH broadcast. In a letter to Sellers, Dye says, “I, too, am quite interested in providing CBH in the French language…It may be possible in the not to distant future.” That letter was dated October 9, 1984! And now in the year 2008, the dream that sprang up in the hearts of Sellers and Dye is becoming a reality. In Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, a recording facility has now been created in conjunction with the national Church of God. A speaker and lead technician have been selected. CBH’s own Logan Ritchhart has just returned from a trip with a CBH Eye on the World ministry team that completed the installation of computers and all the necessary equipment to begin the process of bringing to life the CBH ministry in Côte d’Ivoire. Now the practice, preparation, and planning are in full swing, headed toward a fall launch of this brand-new French ministry effort.

CBH in East Africa—For the last three years, CBH-Swahili has been undergoing an intensive effort to upgrade and expand facilities, and to provide extended education in communications to our East African team as we look toward expanding ministry across the continent. CBH-Swahili producer Obed Okech has spent the last three years in Nairobi completing his graduate studies in communications. Now he is returning to the KIST Communication Center (KCC), the home of CBH in East Africa, where newly expanded and significantly upgraded recording facilities await. A CBH Eye on the World ministry team led by CBH coordinator John Walters will be in Kenya, April 10–24, 2008, to deliver and install new state-of-the-art recording and editing equipment so that KCC can now serve an expanded role in radio and recording ministry as well as in the education and training in radio and recording technologies across Africa. In the summer of 2008, Producer Okech will travel to Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa to continue the support and training of our new West African CBH production team.

CBH ViewPoint Holy Lands Expedition—In January 2009, ViewPoint will travel to the Holy Lands. You can come along. On an Expedition hosted by ViewPoint speaker Jim Lyon and CBH coordinator John Walters, you will be able to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. From Bethlehem to the Sea of Galilee, from Jerusalem to the Jordan River, from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Dead Sea, you will see the places where Jesus lived, loved, and ministered. You will also be a part of the live tapings of ViewPoint programs as CBH walks where Jesus walks. Space is limited; call today for information at 800-757-VIEW (8439).

Project CBH Brazil—A major upgrade and expansion of our CBH-Portuguese effort is now in the development stage. This will include a complete capital upgrade of our production facilities in Rondon, Brazil. Space will be remodeled, new equipment installed, and digital editing capabilities put in place. Additionally, new emerging leadership has already been commissioned and is continuing to be mentored and developed. In the summer of 2009, a CBH Eye on the World ministry team will travel to Brazil to partner with the CBH team there in this major effort. For the first time in nearly twenty years, our ministry center in Brazil will be upgraded and positioned to continue the efforts of one of our most successful ministries in the CBH family of broadcasts. You can travel with us.

ViewPoint Expedition to Ukraine with Russian CBH Staff—In May of this year, Jim Lyon will travel with a CBH ViewPoint Expedition to Berlin, Germany, and then on to the country of Ukraine. This is a very important area of the world for CBH, because here we will find several Church of God congregations that have sprung up from initial contacts between Russian-speaking listeners and the speaker of our CBH-Russian radio broadcast, Walentin Schüle. Joined by CBH coordinator John Walters, Global Missions regional coordinator Kelley Philips, Russian pastor Andrei Kolegov, and Rev. and Mrs. Schüle, the team will travel to visit these congregations and in so doing record ViewPoint programs that tell the world of what God is doing in the lives of those who worship in these CBH-spawned congregations. Significant dreaming and conversations will also take place about the possible expansion of CBH’s impact among Russian-speaking people of the world.

What a tremendous time to be involved in this wonderful ministry of spreading hope. You have a standing invitation to partner with us. There is no better time than now.
