Extending a warm welcome to international guests

By Kathi Sellers

Global Missions invites you to help give a warm and gracious welcome to international guests at the North American Convention. Take time to seek out and meet our Church of God friends from around the world. A large delegation from Brazil includes the new CBH Portuguese speaker, Isai Hort. Central American guests Donnie Allen of Honduras and Isaí Calderón, Jr., both speak fluent English. Invite them to dinner and be fascinated by what God is doing in their respective countries. Narciso Zamora, a national missionary who helped plant the church in Ecuador and Chile, is another guest. He has just written a book about his experiences and the lessons learned. You can get a signed copy.

Take the opportunity to meet our Middle East and European guests: Theresa Palmer represents the United Kingdom; have a conversation about what is happening in Church of God in the United Kingdom. Joy Mallouh is here from Lebanon; find out how the church responds in times of uncertainty and difficulty. Meet Andrei Kolegov, pastor of a young congregation in Russia; his church is completing construction of a building that will be a great ministry tool.

Two Children of Promise directors are here: Charles Nsengiyumva of Rwanda and Ofelia Viray of the Philippines. They have wonderful stories of how Children of Promise has changed the lives of children and is raising up gifted leaders in the Church of God.

Several guests from the Caribbean–Atlantic region are attending the convention: Eustace Rawlings of St Kitts, Glenn Berry and Maxine Kimball of the Cayman Islands, George Foster and Stephen Sandiford of Barbados. Please greet them and help them feel a warm family welcome.

Nathan Wiebe is here from Guam. He can tell you about his team of kids who will be attending the International Youth Convention in San Antonio in July. Ask about the unique wedding ministry to the Japanese on Guam.

Also adding to the international feel are our missionaries. Kay Watts will be commissioned to go to Côte d’Ivoire. Dave, Bonnie, Joshua, and Michael Baylor will be commissioned to go to Kenya. They join missionaries attending the North American Convention: five missionary families serving in Asia–Pacific, one family in the Caribbean–Atlantic, four families serving in Africa, three families from Latin America, and four families serving in Europe and the Middle East. Global Missions invites you to get acquainted with our missionaries and international guests during NAC.
