Main Street provides venue for food, fun, and fellowship
By Susan Kane
Convention attendees won’t have to go far to find a place to relax, rejuvenate, and appease their appetites this year. Several area churches and vendors are offering a variety of items sure to delight the palate of any taste or age. Main Street, located between University Boulevard and the Kardatzke Wellness Center, has been created to provide a place for convention-goers to take a break and enjoy a meal, while saving money on gasoline.
Florida Station Church of God will offer walking tacos, rib-eye and sausage sandwiches, snow cones, and baked goods. CR Enterprises will feature funnel cakes, elephant ears, and shake-ups, while Culvers will have their famous custard, butter burgers, hot dogs, and chips. Heine’s will also have a spot on Main Street to showcase their roast beef, BBQ, and cheese steak sandwiches, as well as their nachos and corn dogs.
People will also want to make special note that Sherman Street Church of God will be hosting a barbeque dinner on Tuesday, June 24, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM to raise money for relief efforts in Africa. Fare will include chicken or rib tips, side items, drinks, and desserts.
Main Street vendors will be open to the public on Friday, 4:30–6:45 pm and 8:45–10:00 pm; on Saturday, the hours are 11:30 am–1:00 pm, 4:30–6:45 pm, and 8:45–10:00 pm; Sunday through Wednesday, the hours are 11:00 am–2:00 pm, 4:30–6:45 pm, and 8:45–10:00 pm.
