Attendees enjoy Southern Gospel Concert
By Cara Miller
People streamed into the Kardatzke Wellness Center on Sunday afternoon to escape the humidity and enjoy the soothing music of the Southern Gospel Concert. The crowd was clapping and swaying to the rhythm as performers lifted their voices to the Lord.
The ninety-minute program included musical selections from three groups, starting with the Alive Quartet, who have been performing together for twelve years and return every year to the North American Convention. These four Anderson University alumni sang a number of songs, including “Happy Rhythm in My Soul,” “Road of Glory,” “Oh, What a Time” and “This Old House.”
The next group was the Disciples Quartet, a young group of singers that included twin brothers Adam and Daniel Howell, Courtney Jenkins, Josh Sharber, and Carl Stagner on keyboard. They performed inspirational songs, such as “It’s Alright,” “God Is on Your Side,” and “Army of God.”
Finally, the Eventide Trio—Drew Mozingo, Greg Alexander, and Tammie Alexander, with Mark Moody on piano—took the stage, pleasing the crowd with the selections “Soldiers of the Cross,” “Fight the Fight,” and “The Devil Can’t Win.”
All three groups were enthusiastic and superb singers, making the Southern Gospel Concert a true celebration of unity in Christ.
