National Association of Evangelism Honors Heroes
Church of God Ministries, Church of God - General

By Connie Cissna

When I was in college, Dr. Kenneth Jones surprised the editor of a local newspaper when he said, “The report of my death has been greatly exaggerated!” Dr. Jones was more right then he knew. On earth, the Christ’s church may loose warriors in the battle, but their legacy lives on far beyond death. The Bible tells us that one of the gifts a Christian leaves to the next generation is a strong foundation for Christ. When God wanted to punish a wicked king in the Old Testament, he would blot out their name forever, as though they had never existed. If a leader stood strong for God, their legacy was a blessing for all future generations. Thus are the remembrances of the great heroes of the faith honored this year in the national meeting of the National Association of Evangelism (NAE).

At the NAE meeting on Monday, Dr. Duncan spoke to honor  the following national evangelists, heroes of the faith: Dr. W. Malcom (Mac) Rigel, Dr. Gilbert Stafford, Dr. Oral Withrow, Rev. Ray Bringham, and Rev. Gerald Marvel. We are grateful to these who gave their lives for the cause of Christ at great cost. Their strong foundation will be a strength to all future generations seeking to evangelize the world.

In this generation, there are those who believe that evangelism is dead. I believe this report has been greatly exaggerated! Today, the officers of the National Association of Evangelism represent the planting of over one hundred new congregations and the revitalization of hundreds of churches.
