Nigel Parker, director of financial planning and education for the Board of Pensions of the Church of God, has earned the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) professional designation from The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. Individuals who earn a ChFC® are prepared to provide expert advice on a broad range of financial topics.
“I think it is important as I work within the world of finance to have a commitment to improving and increasing my knowledge and education,” said Parker. “The Board of Pensions strives to provide our clients with the best possible advice and counsel. This continued education is just one way I can enhance the skills that will serve the servants of the church.”
Candidates for the ChFC® designation must complete a minimum of eight courses and 16 hours of supervised examinations. They must also fulfill stringent experience and ethics requirements.
The ChFC® program focuses on the complete financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a client’s total financial situation. ChFC®’s can identify and establish specific financial goals and then formulate, implement and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals.
“This really raises the level of knowledge and preparedness that Nigel can bring to the table as he provides financial counseling for congregations, missionaries, pastors, and paid employees of the church,” said Jeff Jenness, executive director for the Board of Pensions. “It really is a testament to his personal level of commitment to being the best he can for those he serves.”
Mr. Parker has worked for the Board of Pensions since 2002 and travels across the country providing free seminars, conferences, and consultations. The Board of Pensions serves over 5,200 members and manages over $250 million in retirement assets. You can learn more about the Board of Pensions by visiting www.cogpension.org.
