Bells Chapel Church of God Destroyed by Fire
Church of God Ministries, Church of God - General

As reported by Rev. Jeff White

Very early Monday morning one of our congregations in the Indianapolis area, Bells Chapel, was destroyed by fire.  The cause is uncertain at this time. The building was insured, but to what extent is unknown. The church was the home of a daycare that ministered to over 100 children of low income families in the surrounding area.  The ministry to these families by Pastor Adrienne Holmes and her congregation has been immeasurable in that area of Indianapolis.

Please pray for Pastor Holmes and the Bells Chapel congregation that God will supply a new temporary home for the daycare and the needed supplies.  Pray for the workers who will be temporarily displaced that God will meet their needs.  Pray for the families affected that ways will be open for their children to be taken care of.

As the firemen were putting out the last hot spot, amidst the loss, I stood with Pastor Holmes and heard her give thanks to God that the fire occurred when no one was in the building and that the tragedy didn't occur when the children were there.   As she spoke with church members that had assembled, she reminded them they were the church and the building could be replaced.  Pray for this leader's strength as she moves her people through this difficult time.

We will be assessing the needs for the congregation and will keep you, our partners in ministry, informed on how you might help Bells Chapel to literally rise from the ashes in the days ahead.

Jeff White is the Associate State Minister with Indiana Ministries of the Church of God
