Family Life Center Dedicated at Wounded Knee
Church of God Ministries, Church of God - General
|
|
Wounded Knee, SD—A new family life center was dedicated on Sunday, August 24, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The new facility, located on the Church of God grounds, will provide a gathering place for ministry, community events, and other services for the Wounded Knee community.
“Nothing new has been built in the community for the last several years,” said Stanley Hollow Horn, pastor of the Wounded Knee Church of God. “Our center is something new that can help meet the needs of our people while reaching them for Christ.”

India Violence: An Update from Orissa
Church of God Ministries, Global Missions, CBH: Christians Broadcasting Hope
|
|
Today, we received an update by e-mail on the situation in Orissa, India, from our good friend and colleague, Asim Das. Asim ministers in Orrisa, one of the most religiously radicalized states of India, where religious persecution and violence aimed at the Christian community has exploded in recent weeks. In a previous message, Asim spoke of the persecution sparked by the assassination of a radical Hindu leader. It was assumed by his followers that the Christians were behind his death since he had targeted Christians when he was alive, and so the destruction and killings began.

God’s Amazing Grace in New Zealand

By Diane Davenport
I had a conversation the other day with a Maori woman who attends the local university where Dan Blanton and I are doing chaplaincy work. Not long after we met, she said, “I wonder if you’d pray for me. I’m trying to stop doing drugs.” In further conversation, it became evident that the drugs were interfering with her studies, her family, and especially her relationship with God. She said, “I’m just too ashamed. I want to fix things, but I don’t think God will accept me.”

A Life Transformed
Church of God Ministries, Church of God - General
|
|
By Daniel Flores
God is continuously at work in the lives of his people. He opens the doors of hearts that have long been closed and welcomes back to him others who have spent their lives running from him.
Beatrice, a seventeen-year-old mother of two small children, is a living testimony of how the power of God’s love can transform the heart of even the most damaged life. Much of Beatrice’s young life had been characterized by years of addiction struggles when she met Pastor Daniel Flores, senior pastor at Iglesia de Dios, in San Antonio, Texas. She and her mother attended a small-group meeting at his home, and during the meeting, they were invited to attend worship at the church the following Sunday. Beatrice’s mother was excited to attend, but Beatrice let Pastor Flores know that she “already had her religion and didn’t need to come to church.” However, both Beatrice and her mother were in church that next week and listened attentively to the sermon.

Lives Were Changed at IYC 2008!
Church of God Ministries, Church of God - General
|
|
By David Farlow
The International Youth Convention (IYC) of the Church of God impacted lives for Christ, July 14-17 in San Antonio. Inspirational conferences, service projects around the city, and times of worship were all purposefully designed to create moments for life-change. And lives were changed.
“IYC is all about life change and helping people making decisions that will affect their lives for eternity,” said Andy Stephenson, the convention’s lead organizer. “It is a place where people can hear from God.”

Indiana Ministries Partners with CHOG Foundation

Rev. Bob Moss believes in planting the seeds for tomorrow’s harvest. The needed seeds came from the sale of real estate. And the Church of God Foundation helped him plant the seeds.
“When Indiana Ministries recently sold our office property, we looked for ways to invest the funds that would enable us to have new ministry options for the future,” said Moss, executive state minister for Indiana Ministries of the Church of God. “We placed a significant portion of the proceeds in an endowment with the Church of God Foundation.”
