Hurricane Damages 11 Jamaican Churches

In the wake of Hurricane Dean’s devastation of the Jamaica, Church of God Ministries is continuing to monitor and assess the situation on the island. In an e-mail received Friday, Rev. Lenworth Anglin, the national leader of the Church of God in Jamaica, said the Church of God has confirmed that eleven churches lost their roofs in the storm. Anglin reported that four homes of congregation members where destroyed as well, leaving the families homeless.

Several neighborhoods on the outskirts of Eagle Pass, Texas, and the adjacent town of Piedras Negras, Mexico, were hit by a severe storm late Tuesday, April 24, which spawned a tornado. A second storm followed shortly thereafter, halting relief efforts.

On Friday, February 2, three tornados struck Lady Lake, Florida, killing twenty people and destroying hundreds of homes. The destruction of Lady Lake Church of God, a congregation affiliated with the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee, has also been widely featured in the national media.
