The Church of God is responding to the disaster in Goma, Congo, where the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo has destroyed up to forty percent of the city and about eighty percent of the business district. Some parts of the city are covered by up to ten feet of lava.

It was also the day that Major Ron Richardson of the Madison County Sheriff's Department, Rev. Obadiah Smith of the Compassionate Ministries office of Church of God Ministries, and Rev. Benny Santiago of the chaplaincy program of the Madison County Sheriff's Department began six days of ministry, serving, and witnessing.
