Anderson University School of Theology offers new online degree specializations

The Anderson University School of Theology has expanded its Online Master of Arts in Christian Ministry degree to include four new areas of specialization: pastoral ministry, student ministry, church planting, and Christian worship.

Each specialization is designed to meet the educational needs of church leaders serving in specific roles within congregations of all sizes. The program is designed to serve leaders within the Church of God (Anderson) as well as those serving in other faith communities, according to Dr. John Aukerman, director of distance education and outcomes assessment at the School of Theology.

Anderson University School of Theology reaccreditation marks decade of progress

The Anderson University School of Theology was reaccredited last spring by the Association of Theological Schools for the maximum of ten years through the fall of 2018.

The ATS Evaluation Committee visited the School of Theology for a three-day period last December. After intense yet affirming meetings with faculty, staff, administration, and students regarding degree programs, the evaluation committee filed its report with the ATS Board of Commissioners.

Anderson University joins NetVUE as founding member

Anderson University (Anderson, Indiana) announced Monday that it has joined as a founding member the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), a nationwide campus-supported network whose purpose is to expand and extend the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation on campuses. NetVUE is a new initiative of the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), a national association of more than 600 independent, liberal arts colleges and universities.

Through national and regional conferences, the development and exchange of resources, and participation in online networking, NetVUE will help institutions deepen vocational exploration by their students. The goals of the network are to share knowledge, best practices, and reflection on experiences among campuses while facilitating the incorporation of additional independent colleges and universities into this enterprise.

Porter named 2010 Harp Professor in Residence

The 2010 Harp Professor in Residence for the Anderson University School of Theology will be Dr. Wendy Porter, director of worship and music, McMaster Divinity College, Ontario, Canada. Porter will be on the Church of God seminary campus April 11-15, 2010.

Porter teaches courses in Christian ministry, particularly in the areas of sacred music, liturgics, and worship. Her research and publications explore the interface of theology and church music from the early church to the present. She received her PhD from the University of Surrey, UK.
