Texas—In the aftermath of Hurricane Rita, Bob Pettit reports that he has spoken with Ray Rector, pastor of First Church of God in Port Arthur, and Marvin Sanders, interim pastor of First Church of God in Beaumont. The church in Port Arthur is located in a section where the water is as high as the roof in some areas.

The Church of God in Virginia has opened Camp Christi to house evacuees from Hurricane Katrina. Camp Christi, located atop Christiansburg Mountain in Montgomery County, Virginia, has the capacity to house 195 people.
